53 Wedding Films: Website, SEO and Google Ads

53Marketing built the website for 53 Wedding Films and runs its SEO and Google Ads. 53 Wedding Films is the wedding videography business of Jamie Somers, 53Marketing's founder, so it is also where 53Marketing tests the approach it uses for other wedding suppliers.

About 53 Wedding Films

53 Wedding Films is a wedding videographer based in Derry/Londonderry, filming weddings across Northern Ireland, Donegal and the rest of Ireland. Films include the real audio of the vows and speeches.

The brief

Couples choose a videographer on trust, and often book months ahead. The site needed to show real films, make prices and travel clear, and turn visits into date enquiries. It also had to be found by couples searching in Northern Ireland and across the border, and every enquiry had to be measurable.

Care

Mobile speed work, a privacy policy and site backups

How the work ran, October to November 2026

Every change is logged with the date, the reason and what it should do, then checked two to four weeks later.

16 Oct

Google Ads launched for Northern Ireland and Donegal, linking to a page for each area.

17 Oct

Main page address changed to /wedding-videographer-ireland/ to match how couples search, with a redirect from the old one.

22 Oct

Tracking fixed. The cookie banner was failing to save consent, so no visits or enquiries were being measured.

26 Oct

Ads tidied and speed work started. Other videographers' names excluded from the ads; enquiries marked as key events in Google Analytics.

27 Oct

Homepage heading rewritten to say "Wedding videographer · Derry, Northern Ireland & Ireland". First full site backup.

30 Oct

Ireland campaign launched with its own landing page, rewritten to name the counties couples marry in.

1 Nov

Header video compressed from 15.4 MB to 3.2 MB. Google Analytics linked to Google Ads.

3 Nov

Privacy policy published and travel terms made the same on every page.

Tracking first

In October the cookie banner was failing to save visitors' choices. Every visit reached Google as "consent denied", so Google Analytics recorded no visitors and Google Ads could not count enquiries. 53Marketing found the cause, a missing database table in the cookie plugin, and fixed it before judging any results.

Before, to 21 October

Consent rate in Google's tag diagnostics: 0%
Visitors recorded in Google Analytics: none
Google Ads enquiry conversion: Misconfigured

After the 22 October fix

Consent saves when a visitor accepts
Google tag quality: Excellent, no issues
First enquiry from an ad click recorded on 26 October

A faster mobile site

The homepage header video was 15.4 MB of a 16 MB page. Other speed settings helped a little, but the video was the main cause. 53Marketing compressed it to 3.2 MB at the same size, length and frame rate, and the page dropped to about 4.4 MB.

Pages that match what couples search

The main page address was changed to match how couples in Ireland search, with a redirect from the old one. The homepage heading now says what the business does and where. The Ireland page was rewritten to name the counties couples marry in, from Cavan and Monaghan to Dublin and Meath, and to answer their questions about travel and paying in pounds.

"Cinematic wedding films that sound like your day"

Homepage main heading, after 27 October

"Wedding videographer · Derry, Northern Ireland & Ireland"

The old line stays on the page as a subheading, with the same look, so nothing changed visually.

Google Ads on a small budget

Two search campaigns run side by side, each sending couples to a page written for them. They run on £10 a day in total: £6 for Northern Ireland and Donegal, and £4 for the rest of Ireland. Donegal is left out of the Ireland campaign so the two don't compete.

Campaign 1 · live since 16 October

Northern Ireland and Donegal

£6 a day

Areas: Northern Ireland and County Donegal

Lands on: /wedding-videographer-northern-ireland/ and /wedding-videographer-donegal/

Campaign 2 · live since 30 October

Rest of Ireland

£4 a day

Areas: Dublin, Meath, Louth, Monaghan, Cavan, Longford, Leitrim and Sligo

Lands on: /wedding-videographer-ireland/

Both campaigns show on Google Search only, not partner sites or display ads.

In the first ten days, some ads were showing when people searched for other videographers by name. Those clicks cost money and brought no enquiries. On 26 October 53Marketing excluded those names and raised the maximum bid from £2.00 to £2.50, because the lower cap was holding the ads back.

Clear prices and travel

The services page, the cost guide and the Ireland page now give the same travel terms: travel is included within about two hours of Derry, with a flat £150 travel and overnight fee beyond that. Couples don't find one figure on one page and another elsewhere.

Results so far

Most of this work went live between 16 October and 3 November 2026, so it is too early to judge search results. This page will be updated with Search Console and Google Ads figures after the first four-week check in mid-November. The starting point is below.
